You can allow apps to notify your contacts when you don't want to be bothered.

Apple's Focus feature helps you reduce distractions on your iPhone when you need to concentrate. When it's time to go to bed, you can use a Focus to activate Do Not Disturb (DND) or to filter out all notifications from sources other than your partner. Additionally, you can use "Share Focus Status" to enhance this feature even further. ".

What has happened to Share Focus?

Simply put, the ability to share focus status on an iPhone allows certain apps to inform other users that you have silenced your notifications and can check whether you have Focuses enabled. For example, when using a Focus that is active, the Messages app will alert others when your notifications are muted. The only information message recipients will be able to see is a generic text message stating that your notifications are disabled; they won't be able to see anything else, like the name of your Focus or how long your DND period is. Nevertheless, they will see a notification option that they can use to alert you in case of emergency. I hope they don't behave impolitely in response. ().

Note: Share Focus Status should not be confused with Share Across Devices, which enables you to modify your Focus on one device and apply it to all of your connected devices.

How to turn Share Focus Status on (or off).

Enable Share Focus Status by going to Settings > Focus > Focus Status once you've configured at least one Focus. On the same settings page, you have access to all of your Focuses and can choose which ones to share and which to keep private. Again, no one will be able to tell which Focus you have enabled, but if there are any circumstances in which you'd prefer that no one even be aware that you're using a Focus, you can check the boxes here.

To disable the Share Focus Status feature on your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Focus > Focus Status.
