How to Disable Twitter/X Video and Audio Calls.
You can now take phone calls on X. but why, and how can that be fixed?
Though audio and video calls aren't on my list of features I would like to see added to X (formerly known as Twitter), I do have many other great ideas. Regrettably, it appears that Elon Musk has them since, for whatever reason, the app now lets users call one another. Hey?
It's possible that I've changed as a Tweep, but I find it hard to imagine wanting to make or receive a call on X. I will use one of the dozens of other platforms that either integrate the feature or are the feature if I want to start a video or audio call right away. (We can still make calls, but we no longer have access to Circles. ( ).
The worst aspect is that calls are by default enabled. Your account is set up to send and, most notably, receive audio and video calls if you do nothing. Fortunately, only individuals you follow and those in your address book can call you. Anyone else cannot. However, given how many people you most likely follow, it's unlikely that you'll ever want them to video call you. Perhaps it would have meant something in the old days, but now that includes everyone willing to spend $8 on a blue check, who would want that? You could even allow all verified users to call you, if you so choose. Firm rejection.
So let's see how to disable this feature.
How to turn off calls on X.
Disabling calling on X is not difficult, but the procedure is a little confusing. Open the app and navigate to Settings and Privacy to get started. Turn on audio and video calling by toggling the switch next to Direct messages after selecting Privacy and safety.
By tapping the checkmarks next to People in your address book, People you follow, and Verified users, you can modify who can call you if you want to keep calls enabled.
